Royal Route

One could say that most of the monuments and historical places worth to see in Warsaw are conveniently situated on one route.
This part of Warszawa was relatively little destroyed during the World War II, simply because Germans had their quarters there.

Staszic Palace, Warsaw

The Royal Route, which for centuries had been frequently circulated by kings and presidents, starts around The Royal Castle and ends in Wilanow. Before heading for the royal palace and garden in Lazienki or Wilanow, you should of course first check The New Town, perhaps go up along ulica Dluga and on Plac Krasinskich see how Warszawa inhabitants has commemorated its brave soldiers of 1944 Uprising.

Warsaw University   Old Town, detail    Café Blikle

Do not have only a coffee or ice-cream at one of the numerous out-doors cafés at Rynek Starego Miasta, but also walk around charming little streets of the Old Town. Then check quickly how young skaters on the Castle Square are doing. If you are already tired of being among tourists (and acting like one too) go to the quarter Mariensztat – it is almost empty there.
